The Youths in the Six States of the Southwest hereby condemns in the Strongest terms the Vacation Order given to Nigerians of Igbo Extraction before October 1 2017 by the Coalition of Northern Youth Groups and Endorsed by the Northern Elders Forum. In a Statement issued today in Abeokuta, the Youths stated that Nigeria belongs to all citizens irrespective of Tribe, Religion or Political affiliation." We express disappointment in the Endorsement of the Position of the Northern Youth by the Northern Elders Forum , a body which should have been a Moral Compass and Source of Wisdom and not an instrument of Division and Anarchy. We refuse to go back to 1967 - 1970 where more than 15 Million Lives were lost due to similar Circumstances. We issue a word of caution to the Northern Youths and their Elders to desist from making Utterances that can cause Disunity. There have been instances where Host Communities such as Ile Ife and Sagamu have had trouble with Northerners doing business and this issues were resolved without calling for a Vacation of the Northerners, why then can't the North reciprocate the requisite Tolerance for their Igbo Counterparts? The Northern Elders should channel their energy towards reducing the Endemic Poverty in the North. The Southwest Youths under the Aegis of National Youth Council of Nigeria ( Southwest Zone) also advise the Igbos to follow the right channel of expression of grievances which is through the National Assembly. We know that every State has equal number of Senators and adequate numbers of members of the house of Representatives, the People clamoring for Biafra should seek for a Referendum through instruments of the Law and not through Violence and Civil Disobedience. It is common knowledge that the Igbos are the most travelled Ethnic Group in Nigeria with Investments worth Billions of Dollars across the country. If Secession is achieved through Violence, the Igbos would be the greatest Losers. We ask what can the Secessionists achieve in Biafra that cannot be achieved in Nigeria? Conclusively, we call on all Youth in the Country to Unite and fight for Inclusiveness in the Running of the Affairs of the Country rather than being used by Self Aggrandizing Elements. The Federal Government should also speedily address some of the Claims of Marginalization of the Igbos and many Minority Tribes and the Security Agencies should be on the Alert for agents of anarchy.
